Moving towards the sign-up form...

(Note: due to personal commitments, my post is a few days late. I am including whatever I worked on between 19/08/24 and 25/08/24 and shall keep the post brief as most of it was just theory).

Things I've worked on/completed since my last post…

  • Browser compatibility

  • Frameworks and preprocessors

  • Form basics

  • Form validation

  • Started the sign-up form project

Things that went well...

I think that I am beginning to 'filter' the reading material better in terms of what I really need to wrap my head around now and what is likely to make more sense as time goes on.

I believe that I need to trust my instincts on this in order to not get too bogged down in unnecessary details and also, to make progress. I am learning to trust that certain parts of the theory will become more apparent as I apply the theory in practical exercises.

I glossed over some of the MDN exercises in the forms section as I already had some knowledge in the area and felt that my time would be better spent applying the knowledge on the sign-up form project when it came to it. I intend to approach all the material this way going forward, although there will be less and less areas that I am familiar obviously as I move through the course.

I do not intend to gloss over anything I am unsure about.

Things didn't go quite so well…

I did not have any major problems this week, other than getting bogged down in some of the reading at times (which always happens).

Things I've learnt/things I need to improve on…

Although I was already somewhat familiar with forms, certain bits were new to me such as pattern, number, text length and styling validations.

These were straightforward and their usefulness was clear. I also read a little bit about regex expression in terms of validating passwords.

Plan for the forthcoming week…

I will complete the sign-up form project and move onto the final section of the intermediate HTML and CSS course - Grid.
